In a stunning development, two women have testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Ethics Committee, accusing Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz of paying them for sexual favors. The allegations, which surfaced on CNN’s *Erin Burnett OutFront* show, claim that Gaetz paid these women through electronic platforms like Venmo and PayPal between the summer of 2017 and early 2019 in exchange for sex. One of the women also stated that, during the alleged encounters, she was underage, specifically 17 years old, when Gaetz allegedly had sexual relations with her.



The testimony from the women’s attorney, Joel Lepard, adds to the growing controversy surrounding Gaetz, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Gaetz has publicly refuted all allegations of sexual misconduct, including claims involving minors. He has suggested that he was unaware that one of the women was underage at the time of the alleged incidents. However, the testimony before the Ethics Committee suggests that the women were in high school at the time, and one of them specifically pointed out seeing her friend engaging with Gaetz in sexual acts at a party in July 2017.




Despite these grave accusations, Gaetz has remained defiant, maintaining his innocence and stating that the U.S. Department of Justice cleared him of any criminal wrongdoing. His spokesperson reaffirmed this position, pointing to the fact that Gaetz was not charged by the Department of Justice. A federal investigation was launched into the allegations, but it was closed without any charges being filed.
