Two individuals have succumbed to injuries sustained from burns as a result of the gas explosion in Narayanganj
Two of the six individuals who sustained injuries in a fire in Rupganj, Narayanganj have succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.The victims have been identified as Sohel, aged 20, and Ismail, aged 11. Ismail passed away at 5:45 AM, followed by Sohel at 9:05 AM on Tuesday, both in the intensive care unit of the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Dr. Tariqul Islam, a resident surgeon at the burn institute, confirmed the fatalities, stating that Sohel had suffered burns covering 70% of his body, while Ismail had burns on 55%. He also indicated that the remaining injured individuals are not yet out of danger.
The incident took place last Friday around 11 PM, when accumulated gas ignited in a tin-roofed residence in the village of Dorgaon, Rupganj, resulting in severe burns to six members of the household. They were subsequently admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute for medical care.
The injured individuals include homeowner Mohammad Babul, aged 47, his wife Seli, aged 36, Munni, aged 20, and Taslima, aged 9.
