মতো বাংলাদেশেও এখন আলোচনার বিষয় সামনের দিনগুলোতে বাংলাদেশ ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মাঝে
দ্বিপাক্ষিক সম্পর্ক কেমন হবে।
মানবাধিকার সংক্রান্ত কারণে সাম্প্রতিক বছরগুলোতে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সাথে বাংলাদেশের সম্পর্কে শীতলতা চলছিলো। এসময় ক্ষমতাচ্যুত আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বিভিন্ন বক্তব্যেও তা প্রকাশ পাচ্ছিলো।তবে জুলাই গণঅভ্যুত্থানের মধ্য দিয়ে অধ্যাপক মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের নেতৃত্বাধীন অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার দায়িত্ব গ্রহণের পর বাংলাদেশ-মার্কিন সম্পর্কে অনেকটাই উষ্ণতা দেখা গেছে।
অধ্যাপক মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের সাথে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ডেমোক্র্যাট নেতাদের সম্পর্ক বরাবরই বেশ ভালো। কিছুদিন আগে জাতিসংঘের সাধারণ পরিষদের অধিবেশনে যোগ দিতে গিয়ে মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেনের সাথে তার উচ্ছ্বসিত ছবিতেও তার প্রতিফলন দেখা যায়।
যদিও প্রধান উপদেষ্টার প্রেস সচিব শফিকুল আলম জানিয়েছেন যে শুধু ডেমোক্র্যাট না, রিপাবলিকান পার্টির নেতাদের সঙ্গেও ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের সুসম্পর্ক রয়েছে। তার মতে, ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্পের বিজয়ে বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বিদ্যমান সর্ম্পক আরও উচ্চ শিখরে পৌঁছাবে।
তবে সবকিছু ছাপিয়ে অবধারিতভাবেই এই প্রশ্ন আসছে যে গত কয়েক মাস ধরে বাংলাদেশ ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সম্পর্কের বরফ যেভাবে গলতে শুরু করেছিলো, এখনও তা অব্যাহত থাকবে কি না। নাকি, ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প জয়ী হওয়ায় বাংলাদেশ-মার্কিন সম্পর্কের মাঝে বড় কোনও পরিবর্তন আসবে?Will US-Bangladesh Relations Warm Up or Cool Down

After Donald Trump's
victory in the US elections, discussions have emerged in Bangladesh, as in many
other countries, about what the future holds for bilateral relations between
Bangladesh and the United States.
In recent years, the
relationship between Bangladesh and the US has been somewhat strained,
particularly due to human rights concerns. This tension was reflected in
various statements from the deposed Awami League government and the US.
However, following the
July uprising and the interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, there
has been a noticeable warmth in Bangladesh-US relations.
Professor Yunus has historically maintained strong ties with US Democratic leaders. His recent enthusiastic photograph with President Joe Biden at the United Nations General Assembly is a reflection of this close relationship.
Although the press
secretary of the Prime Minister’s adviser, Shafiqul Alam, has mentioned that
Yunus also has good relations with leaders from the Republican Party, he
believes that with Donald Trump’s victory, the existing US-Bangladesh relations
will reach new heights.
Despite this, the
inevitable question remains: will the thaw in US-Bangladesh relations over the
past few months continue, or will Donald Trump's victory bring significant
changes to the diplomatic ties between the two countries?
